Jim Pegg

Originally from Detroit, Michigan Jim took his Motown experience out west with a show band. A veteran of the casino circuit, Jim has toured Las Vegas, Reno, Tahoe and Atlantic City with the band Frenz; where he doubled on the drums and other percussion instruments. As a number one casino act, Frenz shared billing with Bill Cosby, Phyllis Diller and comedian Marty Allen. He has appeared in several television commercials including a promotion for Las Vegas, featuring Frank Sinatra, and a spot on MTV.

Jim relocated to Los Angeles and started touring with different world beat bands. It was at this time Jim started buying and collecting unique and exotic percussion instruments from around the world. Some of his travels took him all over Japan Islands, Korea, and Australia. He proudly toured for the Department of Defense entertaining our armed forces.

It is through touring that Jim fine-tuned his art, built his incredible drum set-up and mastered his unique beats. Now he has released his first solo CD. The CD contains nine songs and Jim tells us in his own words how it came about: “I have been writing and rewriting these songs for the last 15 years. I am very proud of how I have been able to work the xylophone into my set-up, which gives my music a unique sound. My main instrument is the conga drums and I enjoy combining all the claves together so that when you are listening to my music you will hear Latin, African, Cuban, Brazilian rhythms and music of other styles and cultures. For example in the song “Talking Drum, Dancing Hands” you will hear a variety of instruments: the xylophone, the conga drums, bongos, the djembe drum, timbales and timbalitos, chimes, gong, windtress, shakers and other melodic instruments that accompany the standard bass, key boards and drum set.”

Adding to his credits, Jim recently performed at one of New York's most popular clubs, The Crobar, with world-renowned deejay Dave Waxman in front of a screaming crowd of 2,000 people. He also had the great privilege to have shared the stage with the late, great Ray Barretto at Dizzy's Club at Lincoln Center Jazz. Currently, Jim is on tour in the Southern California area promoting his new CD called “PROcreation” which contains 12 songs. Jim plays in concerts and for industrials and private parties. He is also proud to be apart of SubwayRecords.com and Music Under New York Program (MUNY). To receive a free Promotional DVD of Jim performing contact: hkfuie@aol.com.
